Ya’ll Welcome Rabbi Allison Vann

by trubin 10/5/2011 10:33:00 AM
Ya’all give a warm welcome to Cleveland’s newest Rabbi, Allison Vann, who moved from San Antonio, Texas in June with husband Charlie, 5-year old son Isaac, and 2 dogs, Frankie and Zeke.  (Zeke was named by the Rabbi’s Confirmation Class and is short for Zachariah, the prophet.)  A perfect day off for Rabbi Vann includes a short to-do list, a long nap, a great book, a walk with the dogs, lots of playtime with Isaac, and a yummy family pizza dinner.  When asked about her favorite place in Cleveland, she smiled and said “Suburban Temple, of course!”  Allison “grew up” at Camp Harlam in the Poconos (1979-1986) and met he husband at Greene Family Camp in Bruceville, Texas.  She was the first ordained woman rabbi in San Antonio and chose Cleveland because of its large Jewish community, friendly people & great schools.  Allison admits being nervous about snow and has lots of questions like “Do I buy a snow blower or hire someone to plow the driveway?  Where do I buy warm boots?  What’s the best way to survive winter?”  Please post a welcome to Cleveland message or winter-related suggestions on Allison’s Facebook page, send her an e-mail, or drop by for a family friendly service or activity.
