PURIM FUN for the whole family!
Let’s celebrate Purim!
Purim, beginning Saturday evening, February 27, is a joyous and fun Jewish holiday. You get to dress up in costumes, hear how brave Queen Esther saved the Jews (Megillah reading), and make lots of NOISE to "blot out” the name of evil Haman. It’s also customary to give packages of food, called shalach manot, and eat three-cornered cookies called hamentashen. Try this kid-friendly hamentashen recipe. Traditionalists fill hamentashen with jelly, but many children - and adults - love using chocolate chips.
Purim Parties:
If you’ve never attended a Purim Carnival – prepare yourself. From goldfish prizes to bounce houses, it’s quite the party! Although admission is free at most places, some activities cost money. Plan in advance what you’re willing to spend... it’s kinda like Las Vegas :-)
