Meet Hercules and Rocky's Mom – Miriam Mandel

Dr. Miriam Mandel wanted a barn for her "sons" (horses Hercules and Gusto), educational opportunities for her kids, a location for her husband's medical practice to thrive, and a caring community in which to live. Cleveland was the answer! Read more.

Let the world know what being Jewish means to you. Visit www.whatsyourish.com to read and comment on #ish posts and watch videos made by Jewish celebrities. Then post your own #ish –– on the site, on Facebook, or on Twitter by including the "#ish" hashtag. For every #ish post, 25 cents will be donated to the #ish fund to help the Federation cause you designate.

Volunteer and "Do Good" Opportunities. You Can Make a Difference!

  • June 14-August 6: Help serve free, nutritious lunches to children in the city of Cleveland this summer.
    Volunteers are needed from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at various Cleveland Public Library sites. In addition to serving meals, volunteers will also be able to play games, do puzzles and read with the children. Training is required and provided. Sign up or call 216.566.9200, ext. 130 for more information.
  • Sunday, June 13: Brunch & Bloom
    Join the Federation'’s Jewish Volunteer Network (JVN) to beautify the Hebrew Cultural Garden. Plant flowers and participate in garden activities and crafts for kids of all ages. Family-friendly, FREE and open to the community. 9-11 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 6: Race for the Place
    Walk or run to benefit The Gathering Place, a nonprofit, community-based cancer support center. 5K and 1 mile runners, walkers, kids, strollers and cheerleaders welcome! Pre-registration is recommended. Hosted by Beachwood Place. Survivor Ceremony: 9:00 a.m. 5K and 1 mile race: 9:15 a.m.

PJ Library News

THANK YOU, Mr. Grinspoon! Did you know that The PJ Library® Founder, Harold Grinspoon, helps send 60,000 books each month to kids in 125+ communities in the United States, Canada and Israel? Parents – please share your thoughts about The PJ Library  and we'll forward them to Mr. Grinspoon. 

Listen to author/educator Diane Frankenstein talk about how parents can maximize reading together with their kids. You’ll never approach a book the same way again.
