Get ready for a Sweet New Year!

Rosh Hashanah begins on Wednesday evening, September 28. Click on the links below to make this a sweet and meaningful New Year!

• Review the Rosh Hashanah Basics

• Get crafty! Make bubble wrap holiday cards or maybe, just post a picture and New Year’s greeting on Facebook!

• Check out YouTube’s Just Jew it - How to Blow a Shofar and a fascinating video on how a shofar is made.

• Eat, and then eat some more! Rosh Hashanah’s symbolic foods are a plenty.

• Connect with community. Check out Cleveland’s diverse list of synagogues and see below for information about High Holiday tickets:

• Don't belong to a synagogue? Interested in attending High Holiday services? Contact the Jewish Federation's Information & Referral Specialist, Susan Hyman, at shyman@jcfcleve.org or 216.593.2825.

• Free Family Services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will be held at Suburban Temple-Kol Ami in Beachwood. All babies born since last year’s Rosh Hashanah will be called to the bimah (along with their parents) for a special blessing. Contact Lisa Kollins at lkollins@suburbantemple.org or 216.991.0700, ext. 107 for reservations.

• September 11. "Out of Many, One" – An Interfaith Remembrance and Commemoration. Public interfaith remembrance and commemoration of the September 11, 2001 attacks. All are welcome. The Atrium at 200 Public Square (formerly the BP Building). 3:30 p.m.

• September 16-18. IngenuityFest 2011. Experience music, performances, artwork, interactive high-tech experiences, and experience a really cool Cleveland. Veterans Memorial (Detroit Superior) Bridge.

• September 17-18. Cleveland Museum of Art's Chalk Festival. Wade Oval outside of the Cleveland Art Museum. Free. Noon - 5 p.m.

• September 18. Perform a family-friendly mitzvah at the Federation’s Community-Wide Cemetery Preservation Project. Harvard Cemetery. 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

• September 18. Cleveland Play House Play Date. While adults watch the performance, children ages five and up participate in a unique workshop. 2:30 - 4 p.m.

• September 19. PJ Library Story Time hosted by Fuchs Mizrachi School. 2:30 p.m.

• Speaker Series on Palestinian Unilateralism: September 21 & October 17.

• September 21. PJ Library Playgroup at the Mandel JCC. 10:30-11 a.m.

• September 24-25. Lake Farmpark Fall Harvest Festival. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
